Dear Coach:
We are looking forward to having your team participate in the National Championship here in Montgomery. We have hosted 33 ASA National Championships, and we believe that you will find our staff qualified and able to assist you. If we can answer any questions for you, then please call us Monday- Friday between the hours of 8:30am-12noon and 1:30pm-5pm. Below you will find a few things to get you started.
(1) Housing coordinator: The Housing Coordinator is Debo Clark with Collegiate Sports Travel. She works with properties in Montgomery and is able to offer you a special tournament rate. She will make your reservations for you and give you confirmation, saving you several calls. Collegiate Sports Travel’s phone number is 334-469-5302. Anyone in her office can assist you.
(2) Deadline for entry fee is Friday July 18, 2008. The tournament entry is $325.00 per team. Please make checks payable to Lagoon Park Softball, P.O. Box 210564, Montgomery, AL 36121. If you send through FED EX, please send to 2855 Lagoon Park Drive, Montgomery, AL 36109, Attn: Softball.
(3) Roster, entry form, etc., is also due no later than July 18, 2008. Be sure that your commissioner has signed all paperwork.
(4) Manager’s meeting will be Sunday, July 27, 2008, 10:00 AM at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa; One manager per team only.
(5) Opening Ceremonies will be Sunday July 27, promptly at 4:00 PM, at Riverwalk Stadium.
(6) Tournament Play will begin Monday July 28 9:00 AM at Lagoon Park and Fain Park Complexes. Double elimination will begin Wednesday, July 30th.

Ticket Cost: Adult Tournament Pass- $40 Adult Daily Ticket- $10;
Youth Tournament Pass - $20 Youth Daily Ticket-$5
Adult = 12 and above Youth = 5 – 11 Lagoon Park does not accept credit cards.
All players will receive passes for free admission; each team will receive three coach’s passes.
Parking: No charge for parking. Adequate parking is available.
Bracket Draw: Monday July 21, 2008, 9:00 am @ the Lagoon Park Softball Complex.
PLEASE NOTE ASA Code 511 C – THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL DRAW CAN BE HELD UP TO 7 DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT SO THAT TEAMS MAY BE NOTIFIED. PLEASE CALL LAGOON PARK 334-271-7016 MONDAY JULY 21, NOON UNTIL 6:00 PM, FOR YOUR GAME TIME. POOL PLAY BRACKET WILL BE POSTED ON OUR WEB SITE ONCE EACH TEAM HAS CHECKED GAME TIME VIA TELEPHONE. TEAMS NEED NOT BE PRESENT FOR THE DRAW.
Please also note ASA Code 511-B-02 stating that the double elimination bracket draw shall be held prior to the pool play. Pools will be assigned from the double elimination draw. Both double elimination and pool play draws will be held Monday July 21. As stated in the ASA Code, qualifying pool play shall be used to enhance the participation experience.
Opening: Sunday July 27 4:00 PM at Riverfront Stadium. Each team should be present in uniform for team introduction and recognition. Please feel free to bring state, city flag, or banner with you to Opening Ceremonies.

Identification: Official Tournament Entry Form with Commissioner Signature is due by July 18. Entry fee of $325.00 is due by July 18. Mail to Lagoon Park Softball, P.O. Box 210564, Montgomery, Al 36121. There will be team check-ins at Lagoon Park Saturday July 26 from Noon – 5:00; and Sunday July 27 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa from 9:00 am - Noon. Proper identification (current photograph, proof of age, & player’s signature) must be provided prior to beginning game play.
Tournament Program Player Profile Sheet & Team Photo: Form is located at Player Profile Sheet for Program.xls Player Profile Sheet and attached team photo must be received by Tuesday, July 15th 5pm for team Picture and information to be placed in tournament program.
Home Team: Home/Visitor will be determined by a coin toss. This will be handled by the scorer in the pressbox one hour prior to game time.
Line-Ups: Line-Up cards will be provided for each team. Line-Up cards are due in the pressbox one hour prior to game time.
Format: Pool Play and Double Elimination – 4 game guarantee.
Uniforms: All players should wear uniforms alike in color and style. Coaches should be neatly attired and dressed alike or in accordance with team color. (Please see rule 3, section 6 of ASA code.)
Game Times: Game time is to be followed by official bracket. Be certain of which complex your game is to be played.
Rain Delay: It is the coach’s responsibility to check with Lagoon or Fain for changes due to weather. If rain or other inclement weather interrupts a game, then the game will pick up at exact point where it was stopped. If the tournament cannot be completed within the scheduled time frame and more than 40% of the games have been completed, then the official order of finished will be determined by team position in the bracket. Tiebreaker procedure will be as followed:
Concessions: Concessions will run from start to finish at both complexes. We request that no outside food or coolers (other than team coolers) be brought into the complex. Team picnics and/or cookouts must be done outside the softball parks. Teams are requested to leave areas clean and free from trash.
Team Photos: All photos on site will be handled through Mr. Stanley Cooper & Ninth Wonder Photography, web site- www.sendtoprint.net / email-cooperninth@yahoo.com. Ninth Wonder Photography will be on site. Team photos should be made post opening ceremonies or made by appointment.
Souvenirs: Souvenirs will be available throughout the tournament. Initial sales will begin on Saturday July 26, Noon – 5:00 at Lagoon Park Softball; and throughout the tournament. Lagoon Park does not accept credit cards.
Souvenir tees may be pre-ordered (more information @ www.lagoonparksoftball.com/souvenirs.htm) in orders of 15 or more. Your order will be held and must be picked up no later than Monday July 28 at Lagoon Park Softball Complex. Orders not claimed by the deadline will be voided.
Weather: Teams should expect temperatures in the high nineties to lower one hundreds (95-102 degrees). The current weather is available from the National Weather Service at www.weather.com
Trainers: Rehab Associates will provide trainers throughout the event.
Practice Fields: Field availability for team practices (if weather permits) will be scheduled by phone call starting at 1:30pm (central standard) on Tuesday, July 22nd. Each scheduled practice will be for 1 hour 30 minutes. Fields will be available at Lagoon and Fain Parks. We will not schedule a practice before 1:30pm, Tuesday or schedule multiple practice times on that day. You may call back Wednesday, July 23rd to see if any available slots are left and at that time schedule a second practice time if needed. Practice times available will be on Saturday, July 25th, 9am, 10:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm, 3pm and Sunday, July 26th, 9am, 10:30am, 12pm. No practice games will be scheduled by Lagoon staff.
Team Social: There will be a team social immediately following opening ceremonies Sunday July 27 at the Riverfront Amphitheatre (next to Riverfront Stadium) from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. This will be free admission for players and coaches; any fan may attend by purchasing a $5.00 ticket on site. Reservations for fans must be made prior to Wednesday, July 23rd by contacting Lagoon Park. All that is needed is a total number of persons (fans) expected to buy a ticket on site called in by the manager or coach of the team.
Gift Exchange: Teams will exchange gifts prior to their first pool play game.
Park Rules and Regulations
· No pets allowed within complexes.
· No alcoholic beverages allowed in the premises.
· No smoking in any Parks and Recreation facility.
· Shirts must be worn at all times.
· No glass containers allowed within complexes.
· Warm-up allowed in designated warm-up areas. No infield practice will be taken.
· No outside food may be brought in complex.
· Team coolers only allowed in complex.
· No tents will be allowed behind the backstop of each field.
